About Us

Murphy & Co Vets on Builder Street West Llandudno is owned by Fiona Murphy. Fiona graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2007 and has been working in North Wales for most of her career.

The practice was set up in 2012. After searching for several months we found the perfect site with plenty of space to allow our unique design which includes separate dog and cat areas. We are situated directly opposite Llandudno Football Club which makes us easy to find (just drive any direction to Llandudno and follow the symbols of the brown football). We also have the advantage of ample car parking spaces.

We run the practice and treat all patients in the way we would want our own pets to be treated and we welcome you all to come in for a visit. There is ample safe parking and our large spacious, air conditioned consulting rooms are easily accessible to all. We have arranged our consulting times to fit around people’s work schedule and the school run and we run twenty minute appointments hopefully to give you the time you need.

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce my team, who you may see when visiting the practice.

Fiona and Ruby

Hello my name is Fiona. I am originally from Aylesbury but studied at University of Liverpool, graduating with a BSc in Zoology and then also qualified as a vet with a BVSc in 2007. I have been in practice in the county of Conwy since 2008 and have special interests in ultrasonography, behaviour and cardiology. I closely follow technological developments in veterinary medicine and with my team we try to offer our clients the most up to date and clinically proven treatments available. I know that having an ill pet can sometimes be an awful experience and our traditional values ensure our clients receive an attentive service whether they are visiting for a vaccination or a critical surgical procedure.

Having lived locally for nearly ten years I have been fortunate to have met an enormous number of lovely clients and always enjoy stopping for a chat if I met them out walking my dog, Ruby, on local beaches, around the National Park or even at the supermarket. I apologise in advance if I recognise your dogs first. When I’m not with clients I spend my time with my little boy and husband who are also animal lovers, naturally.

I have two Alaskan Malamutes Timber and Storm and it is nice because a lot of the clients have recognised me because of them . The dogs were used as pet therapy dogs as they are very well behaved (apart from when it came to posing for a photo with me!). I have three sons and I also enjoy walking.

Claire Cooper Qualified Veterinary nurse

Hello I am Claire and I joined Murphy & Co Vets from a very busy practice in Bristol. You will find me doing the nurse consults and I enjoy meeting all the clients and their pets. I only work part time as I also run a B&B with my other half which certainly keeps me busy! I have a cat called Cheeky Pete and I enjoy all things about living in Llandudno when I get time to enjoy it.

 Lauren Thomas Student Veterinary nurse

Hello my name is Lauren and I’m a qualified veterinary nurse. I’ve been lucky enough to have been brought up on a small holding always surrounded by a wide variety of different animals. It was therefore the most natural thing in the world and no surprise to my family, not only to work with, but help animals. In September 2015 I started to fulfill that ambition by joining Murphy & Co Vets and training to be a veterinary nurse. I have recently achieved my qualification and I am now looking forward to extending my knowledge through certificates and CPD. I have a keen interest in anaesthesia and nutrition. When I’m not working, I’m helping out on the smallholding with the sheep and goats. We also breed dalmatians and have six of our own. If that doesn’t keep me busy enough, I have a love for horses and compete in show jumping and cross country with my horse Henry. I also love to show my Welsh ponies and I can be seen every summer running around the main ring at the Royal Welsh Agricultural show.

Lucy Gillis Qualified Dog Groomer and Receptionist

Hello I am Lucy, I have been working on reception at Murphy & Co Vets since May 2014, having originally come to the practice as a client . I have really enjoyed meeting all the clients and after listening to them saying that they were unable to get their dogs groomed due to waiting times I decided to offer our very own grooming service. I have been a qualified dog groomer for over 6 years and love doing all types of grooms from full grooms to hand strips. You can see examples of my work on our Facebook page. Outside  of work I enjoy road biking, horse riding and being outdoors with my dog George.
